Causes

Here is a list of Causes that Runnin’ 4 a Reason is supporting at any given time:

Save the Missile! (Breast Cancer Surgery/Recovery)
My sister-in-law’s sister was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in July 2018. Funds raised through this site will help not only with treatment, but also for fuel to get back and forth to appointments. She will soon begin radiation in which she will be traveling daily (5 days a week) for 5 weeks.

Freeze Out Homelessness 5K (Rescue Mission)
Help support the Syracuse Rescue Mission, and End Homelessness. Every $100 raised provides 3 nights stay at the Rescue Mission.

AIDS Walk / Run (ACR Health)
In 2013 I helped raise almost $900 for the AIDS Run/Walk held on June 2, 2013. This cause still remains important to me as I will be participating in this race once again in 2014. Please consider making a donation. ACR Health is a not-for-profit, community-based organization providing prevention, education, and support services to individuals with chronic diseases including HIV/AIDS, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, asthma, substance use disorders,
and serious mental illnesses.

Ride & Run for the Rescue (Rescue Mission)
Here’s a change of pace! I’ll be RIDING (bicycle) a 40-mile route in support of the Rescue Mission in support of Ending Hunger. The Rescue Mission provided 276,976 meals in 2016. This includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner to families and individuals in need. Just $2.24 provides one meal. Will you help #endHunger ?

The ROAD / Wholely Grounds
The ROAD/Wholely Grounds is a United Methodist New Faith Community located in the Onondaga Hill area, across the street from the Onondaga Free Library on West Seneca Turnpike. Wholely Grounds is located within The ROAD and is best described as a Cafe Space offering food and beverage options. Wholely Grounds funds the missionary work of The ROAD. Some of which includes: feeding the hungry every Friday in Perseverance Park, providing brown bag lunches that include a Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich, Bag of Chips, Piece of Fruit, and Napkin, Weekly Drum Circles, and many other programs. Frannie’s Fanny Packs
In February 2010, Frances (Frannie) Borland, of Oswego, NY, was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. During her last chemotherapy treatments that she endured (5-FU), it involved wearing a clear plastic pouch in which the chemo drug was administered over an extended period of time. Although this allowed Frannie to live a bit more of a “normal” life in which she could continue about daily functions when her strength allowed, there was still something about going out in public with the clear plastic pouch for all to see. With the help of her sister Frannie began wearing a fancier fanny pack that helped to hide the pouch, and provide more privacy to the battle she was enduring. Many other patients at Brittonfield (where she was receiving treatment) were jealous over her fanny pack and so Frannie’s Fanny Packs were born.
